This is what it sounds like when you google ‘80s sunset’. This whole collab tape is seeping with peachy yellows and deep blues, like driving off into a massive sky at slow pace. Both maintaining their respective styles following a long collection of self-driven tapes, it’s hard to believe this one came together anywhere else but in the same room, each bouncing various samples and sources off one another but coming together insanely well together. It exuberates warmth, every piece of audio coated in bass and low end, but lets every melody sing through, whether it’s sunbaked synths or yearning vocals. Beyond the cohesion of the project, it’s the little details that get me - every slightly altered melody chop on the fourth loop, or occasionally letting deep crooning vocals peep in (and sometimes not). It always catches me off guard and leaves me smiling, on a tape that feels like a collection of loops to have such an immense amount of dynamics and replay value. There’s also something about the drums on this one that are reminiscent of other modern greats like 4KAPAS and dawgz., where every bit of percussion feels completely baked in to the sample, only pulling you out every time the kick comes in. I say all this to say this tape’s had a lot of spins lately and I can’t get enough of it. It’s dropping a weighted blanket on a cold Sydney winter at the moment, and what’s better than that really?

KEY BEAT: freeflowing. - this is one of the more sporadic cuts here but knocks so hard in its brief runtime, just with how each kick and clap dance around each other to let the gorgeous vocals and airy keys come through. Such a beautiful track.
