obsolidity - summatime never ends :)

It seems like obsolidity has only been putting stuff out for a couple years but he already seems like a seasoned vet. I fell in love with his sound the first time I heard it on the cakefromhellworldtour tape, fantasiesVR blowing my mind in its raw chops and blown out drums. This 2023 effort is one of the only full lengths from the beatmaker (if not the only) and expands this sound into a bunch of beats filled with differing sample styles and drum patterns. His mixdown actually reminds me a lot of aerate’s in how equally vintage and futuristic it feels, but the beats themselves seem more down to earth. The straight sizzle of hihats and quick hits of double bassy kicks on ‘awesome ok’ or the swung clippy percussion that drives ‘unspoken gratitude’ forward. Glistening rnb and bleepy electronic chops find unity on a tape like this, sitting alongside flips of vapor classics like the impeccable ‘nobody here’ which I’d never heard someone sample like that before. The whole tape coasts into a breezy finish with ‘subservience’, obsolidity giving you enough time to reflect on the tape that was and the wild ride inbetween.

KEY BEAT: desires - this one gives me goosebumps every time I put it on, with fine-tuned deep soul chops and harmonic leads syncing with driving kicks and hollow snapping snares, creating an absolute headknocker.
