siphon x keight - computer depository

From Rome to Antarctica, siphon and keight compiled a tape that meets no physical bounds. As soon as you hear the first Windows Vista bootup, the rest of the tape feels like you’re sitting crosslegged in that pitch black cacophonous room on the cover, each new vignette blinding you as the washed-out but bright monitors snap on and off; like you’re sitting in an echo chamber in 2007, rnb loops and raps singing out and bass blaring. Off-piste kicks and crunching claps seem to lock into place on almost every beat, metallic hihats and percs rattling behind it all. The monitors seem like they’re going to crumble and fall with every 808 hit, somehow still dishing up enough clarity to hear each cathartic vocal loop and chop, sometimes raw and sometimes laid over with raps. The whole thing feels like something that should’ve scored a weird visual off LiveLeak in 144p, all delivered through Unregistered Hypercam 2. Despite having their own styles, this is honestly one of the most cohesive collab tapes I’ve heard all year, each beat complimenting the next to leave you puzzled as to who actually did what; the power of connective chemistry through the internet on full display.

KEY BEAT: 𝐟𝟒𝐧𝐜𝐲𝟓 - really simple and direct drums lead this track through one of the most ear-wormy loops I feel like I’ve heard all year, beautiful vocals cut so refreshingly I can’t get it out of my head after the tape ends.
