I think swipe might be the only producer in the PSG camp that I haven’t spoken about yet, but someone worth discussing. I first found out about him when seeing his videos of freestyled choreography against beats and songs I loved, and in a way, every body movement mimics the sound of his own beats. In a big 2024 across years prior, swipeex. has solidified himself as a unique voice in the beat scene, collaborating with like-minded individuals to bounce quick ideas off each other, but always remaining distinct and proper. I could’ve picked any project he’s put up across a busy year, but this one seems to strike the line between raw and well-rounded, chopping samples of buttery vocals and light guitar licks going hand-in-hand with some of the loosest drum patterns you can find. His drum placement caught me so off guard the first time I heard it where, in a similar way to Gex Armour, it all feels so untethered, like he catches himself right before he misses the beat. Every delayed kick and quick snare hit evokes feeling first and foremost - he’s playing along to the heartbeat of every song, even if it’s irregular, rather than the time signature. Distinguished PSG peers pop up and dish their own flavour mainly on the sample side, where swipe does an amazing job adding his own spin on the signature drums of each artist, with the scape songs sounding like scape songs and the indy track sounding like indy. Despite how great the tape is standalone, it all comes together in a way to feel like a blip in something greater, or a fleeting set of ideas before properly switching gears again; exactly what swipeex. has done across a big year.

KEY BEAT: Noah - this one’s doused in nostalgia, glassy percs placing a backdrop against bittersweet synths so warped it sounds like a slow wave goodbye, or a fleeting memory right before it leaves your body.
