DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ – Charmed

What a year it’s been. 12 months of twists and turns and so many god damn albums consumed, all to deliver an album which I can only compare to Moses splitting the red sea. I’d very rarely ever put this tag against an album but Charmed feels like an absolute masterpiece to me – 31 tracks and 3 hours of some of the most refreshing, thrilling and magical house music I’ve ever heard. Never one-note or predictable, this album is the perfect combination of quantity and quality, equal parts technically skilled and so fucking fun to listen to.

While there’s a small handful of tracks (out of the 31) that may not hit quite as hard as others, this album feels like a celebration of the end of a universally shitty year with the greatest party of all time. It’s the breath of fresh air I’ve been searching for all year, and I can’t bloody get enough of it.

KEY TRACK: Next To Me – this caught me so off-guard when I first heard it, but the way this thing builds from feeling like a 90s soap opera to the sound you hear when you enter the gates of heaven just absolutely floored me. The way both vocal lines blend at the end with such a beautiful harmony behind it just feels so euphoric.
